ArchCare Deploys Motorola\u2019s Passive Optical LAN Solution.
\nDeerfield Beach, FL \u2013 April 11, 2012: AMT (Advanced Media Technologies) announced today that ArchCare has installed Gigabit<\/p>\n

Passive Optical Network (GPON) Solution at its Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center (TCC) extended care facility in New York City.<\/p>\n

The product is being utilized to distribute Ethernet to 2300 ports throughout a three-building facility over a fiber optic infrastructure.
\nImplementation of a new Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system on this campus location required the complete rebuild of the existing Local Area Network including all new structured cabling as well as installation of a new Wireless LAN for mobility applications.<\/p>\n

The fact that TCC is an older facility posed increased challenges for cabling, which included limited access to raceways, minimized routing options, reduced available space, and strict environmental cleanliness requirements.<\/p>\n

In this regard, GPON proved especially beneficial due to its reduced space requirements and increased lifespan over conventional copper.<\/p>\n

Additionally, this TCC location contains ArchCare\u2019s main data center, which hosts mission-critical applications for eight ArchCare locations throughout the greater New York City area.<\/p>\n

Therefore, maintaining systems operability 24×7 during the LAN migration was a critical project requirement.<\/p>\n

The project team was comprised of ArchCare IT, Peleton, and its cabling partners (GNI and Bayview Communications).<\/p>\n

The team worked closely to successfully implement the new LAN environment while maintaining a 24×7 operational status.<\/p>\n
